Tommy Batts graduated  from Southern Wayne High School in 1979. After two years at Durham Technical Institute he received an AAS degree in Opticianry. After passing the state board exam in 1992 and serving a six month internship he was licensed in May of 1983. He worked initially with a optometrist in his hometown and then worked with a ophthalmologist in the same town.  In May of 1990 he moved to Greenville and purchased the Pearle Vision Center from his brother. In 2006 the mall was demolished and he opened Clear Image Opticians in November 2006. He works there with wife Rhonda who works as a frame stylist and lens consultant.

The store was opened to offer an alternative choice for people wanting great personal service and products at reasonable prices. There is a no pressure sales philosophy.
